Taking responsibility

Within the Berndorf Group, the foundation promotes innovation in Group companies, including sponsoring the Group-wide Innovation Kaiser competition, which honours the most innovative project teams from among the Berndorf subsidiaries each year.

Externally, education is a priority. Teach For Austria is the key project supported by the foundation in this field. An independent, non-profit education initiative, Teach For Austria aims to give educationally disadvantaged children and teenagers a brighter future. Within the project top-university graduates from various fields of study get the possibility to engage themselves as teachers for a duration of 2 years at local Austrian schools.

In supporting academic research, Berndorf Private Foundation is investing in the development of major breakthroughs in fundamental science. An excellent example is a new 3D technique for analysing the structure of materials at the micrometric and nanometric scale, developed at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (http://www.boku.ac.at/).

“We want to give something back to Berndorf employees, who put their heart and soul into working for the company on a daily basis. And, step by step, we also want to fulfill our responsibilities outside the Berndorf Group by doing our part for the future of our society.”

Norbert Zimmermann,
Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Berndorf AG and Member of the Management Board, Berndorf Private Foundation
