BERNDORF/VIENNA/BERLIN (30 June 2017) – Two are always better than one – and two awards shine that much brighter. The Berndorf Bäderbau team’s innovative approach and design ideas have earned them two awards for recently completed hotel projects in different parts of Europe. The Lower Austrian firm received the international Golden Wave award for the second time, as well as an Austrian Hotel & Design award for the first time ever.

The innovative Rondo Turbo 8
The Golden Wave innovation prize is awarded every two years by Germany’s top pool and wellness magazine, Schwimmbad+Sauna, which recognises outstanding products, techniques and processes. Berndorf Bäderbau received the award for its Rondo Turbo 8 whirlpool bath, created for Hotel Veba in the Czech Republic.
Developed in Berndorf, the 7.1m2 hot tub seats eight people and includes an air jet massage function. But its most striking feature is the unusual cladding. Smooth stone was chosen, so that the whirlpool blends into the hotel’s wellness area seamlessly. Two multifunctional LED underwater lights bathe the pool in a variety of colours, creating a unique ambience.

Star quality in Norway
Berndorf Bäderbau left competitors trailing in its wake in the Wellness category of the Hotel & Design awards in Vienna. Each year, the five-strong jury from Hotel & Design magazine pays tribute to hotel and catering sector products that stand out thanks to their exceptional design quality. The awards cover ten categories, including interior design, bed concepts, spa and wellness, tableware and hotel architecture.
Berndorf’s winning project had real star quality from the outset: the special steel pool for Norway’s Hotel Solstrand. 65 individual lights create the pool’s starry floor, while specially designed infinity overflow edging surrounds the 16m long, 7.5m wide pool in the hotel’s exclusive spa zone.
